Tokyo Chapter

RMD Specials – Tokyo Chapter

In the vibrant heart of Tokyo, where tradition seamlessly intertwines with modernity, RMD Agency recently embarked on an exhilarating fashion photography assignment, dubbed “Tokyo Chapter“, marrying the worlds of high fashion and luxury automobiles in a visually stunning tableau. This ambitious initiative aimed to capture the dynamic energy of Tokyo’s bustling streets while showcasing an impressive lineup of supercars from renowned brands such as Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, and Nissan.

RMD Agency’s work provided a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of cutting-edge fashion and automotive excellence, with models adorned in the latest trends from leading designers, juxtaposed against the sleek lines and powerful aesthetics of these automotive masterpieces. Set against the backdrop of Tokyo’s iconic skyline and neon-lit avenues, the photoshoot not only highlighted the cars’ luxurious details and performance prowess but also echoed the city’s eclectic spirit and cultural richness.

When our staff first landed in Tokyo, the vibrant energy of the city was palpable. As they made their way through the bustling streets, the imposing silhouette of Tokyo Tower caught their eye. This iconic structure, reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower yet distinctly Japanese, stood majestically against the backdrop of the urban skyline.

As they framed their shots, they noticed how Tokyo Tower served as a focal point in the cityscape, with its presence harmoniously blending old and new—traditional shrines nestled among futuristic skyscrapers. The photographs acquired an almost cinematic quality, showcasing the bustling streets below, where pedestrians and vehicles moved rhythmically, reflecting Tokyo’s unique blend of tradition and innovation.

RMD Agency’s first meeting at ANA InterContinental was a pivotal moment for the team. With a stunning backdrop and a collaborative atmosphere, the venue provided the perfect setting for creativity and brainstorming.

Situated in a vibrant area of Tokyo, ANA InterContinental served as an ideal base for RMD Agency’s various needs. The hotel’s specious and secure facilities provide ample space for housing a diverse array of photo and video gear, from high-end cameras and lenses to lighting equipment and audio recording devices. The hotel’s concierge and logistics support enhanced this setup, ensuring that the agency’s gear is transported efficiently whenever needed and made easily accessible for quick deployment to various shoots across the city.

During the meeting, RMD staff shared their visions and insights, laying the groundwork for future projects. The discussions revolved around the integration of emerging technologies in photography, and the importance of visual aesthetics in branding. The team also engaged in dynamic discussions about potential photoshoot locations. Each member of the team shared their vision, bringing unique perspectives on various sites that would best capture the essence of their upcoming projects. Ideas ranged from iconic urban landscapes to serene natural settings, reflecting the diverse themes the agency aims to explore.

Our producers contributed practical insights about logistics, permits, and the best times for shooting at different locations, ensuring that creative dreams could be realized seamlessly. Together, they evaluated each proposed site, considering factors like lighting, timing, accessibility, and the overall atmosphere.

After considering various options for photoshoot locations in Tokyo, the decision was made to select Shinjuku, Fukutoku Shrine, Tokyo Tower, Kabukichō, Shibuya, and Tokyo Bay as the primary sites. This choice was influenced by a combination of iconic aesthetics, accessibility, and the variety of settings each location offers.

Filled with enthusiasm, RMD staff set off for their first-ever photoshoot in Tokyo. Their destination was Hilton Shinjuku, a striking backdrop that promised to enhance their creative vision. Upon arriving at the Hilton, the team was immediately taken with the hotel’s sleek and contemporary design. They quickly set up their equipment, scouting various locations around the property, including the Executive Floor, to maximize the visual appeal of their photos. The team worked collaboratively, each member contributing their expertise, ensuring that every shot was perfectly framed and lit.

Central to this shoot were two new face models, who wore stylish blue short jeans paired with sleek crop tops that featured the agency’s logo. This combination not only highlighted their figures but also fostered a sense of unity. The cropped tops allowed for a modern and trendy look, perfect for the youthful vibe the agency wanted to convey. Adding an extra flair to their outfits were the great caps, which complemented the ensemble beautifully.

One of the standout features of the Executive Floor at Hilton Shinjuku Hotel was the exquisite wooden walls. These rich, textured surfaces offered a classic yet contemporary backdrop, enhancing the visual appeal of the fashion pieces. The natural grain of the wood added warmth and character, perfectly complementing the clothing, while also providing a stunning contrast for vibrant colors and intricate patterns.

After wrapping up at the Hilton Shinjuku, RMD team made their way across the vibrant city to their second location: Fukutoku Shrine. This serene shrine, nestled amidst the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, was a perfect setting for the next phase of their shoot. In this segment, two stunning vehicles took center stage: a sleek Ferrari 458 Spider and a sophisticated Mercedes SL 350.

RMD team’s ability to transition from the contemporary elegance of Hilton Shinjuku to the timeless beauty of Fukutoku Shrine illustrated their versatility and creativity in capturing striking imagery in diverse settings. The day was a testament to the team’s collaborative spirit and artistic vision, generating a collection of photos that are sure to resonate with audiences.

The model prepared for the photoshoot with an air of excitement, knowing she would be showcasing two stunning supercars. The setup was carefully orchestrated, with RMD team choosing a backdrop at the Fukutoku Shrine that highlighted both the cars and the model. In the photoshoot, the model was styled to create a striking visual contrast between the luxury cars and the vibrant clothing.

For the first set with the Mercedes, the model showcased a crop top shirt that perfectly complemented the great, metallic finish of the car. The warm tones of the shirt harmonized with the cool silver, creating a sophisticated yet energetic vibe. The model’s confident pose and the reflective surface of the Mercedes added to the luxe aesthetic, allowing the clothing to pop against the car’s elegance.

For the second set featuring the Ferrari, the model switched to a black crop shirt, which provided a sharp contrast against the vivid red of the car. The bold black highlighted the curves and design of the Ferrari, emphasizing a sense of power and intensity. The model exuded a rebellious spirit, matching the car’s dynamic energy with her pose and expression. Together, the combination of the outfits and the cars created a visually captivating narrative that celebrated both fashion and automotive artistry.

As the team prepared for their final shots at the Fukutoku Shrine, an unfortunate mishap occurred—the camera lens slipped from the grasp of a crew member and fell to the ground. With the perfect shot just within reach, the team knew they needed a reliable solution quickly. With time ticking away, they made their way to Map Camera, the go-to destination for photography enthusiasts in Tokyo.

At Map Camera, they were greeted by an extensive selection of top-tier camera gear and bilingual staff eager to assist. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a budding photographer, Map Camera has everything you need to capture life’s beautiful moments. They found the ideal replacement lens and, with a renewed sense of excitement, headed back to the shrine. With their high-quality new lens in hand, the team was ready to transform that breathtaking backdrop into stunning images that would leave a lasting impression.

Once the photoshoot at Fukutoku Shrine was successfully completed, the team packed up and quickly made their way to Tokyo Tower, excited to capture the contrasting beauty of the modern landmark alongside the high-performance supercars. However, they were aware that the narrow streets surrounding Tokyo Tower could pose challenges, especially with the influx of tourists.

To tackle this, RMD team had devised a strategic plan. They arrived at Tokyo Tower just at sunset, and divided their tasks efficiently, with one group managing the cars and setting up the shots, while another scouted the best shoot points that would allow them to capture the two cars without tourists obstructing the view.

Understanding that the area would be crowded, the team used their communication skills to coordinate with each other and guide the supercars into position quickly. They made smart use of specialized low light lenses to capture both the cars and the tower while minimizing the intrusion of pedestrians. By working quickly and efficiently, they were able to direct traffic and keep the area clear for short bursts of time whenever they needed to snap critical shots.

The combination of the vibrant cityscape and the powerful vehicles created breathtaking images that showcased a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, culminating in a successful day of photography despite the challenges presented by the bustling environment.

For their fourth photoshoot location, the team headed to the vibrant district of Kabukichō. Known for its lively atmosphere, neon lights, and unique urban landscape, Kabukichō offered an intriguing backdrop for the team’s creative vision.

Kabukicho is a famous entertainment district best known for adult-oriented nightlife. The area’s name derives from the famous kabuki theatre that was planned to be built there in the 1950s, although it was never realized. Despite its somewhat notorious reputation, Kabukicho is also a place of curiosity and exploration, attracting both the adventurous and those seeking a unique slice of Tokyo’s nightlife.

RMD Agency knows that Kabukicho is not just a hub for entertainment but also a treasure trove for creativity, particularly in fashion and modeling. Recognizing the district’s vibrant atmosphere and unique style, RMD Agency’ scouts has frequented this area in search of new faces and emerging fashion talent. The eclectic mix of personalities and looks in Kabukicho made it an ideal place to discover aspiring models who possess the ability to represent the dynamic and diverse nature of modern fashion.

Amidst the dynamic backdrop of Kabukicho, RMD team successfully conducted auditions and discovered several new faces that showcased a range of unique looks and personalities. This collaboration not only elevates the visibility of the models but also enriches the fashion narrative by integrating the dynamism and aesthetic of one of Tokyo’s most famous quarters into their work. Through such scouting initiatives, RMD continues to push the boundaries of fashion while celebrating the diverse talent found within Tokyo’s streets.

After selecting a promising model, RMD team organized a preliminary photoshoot that captured her in various poses and outfits. This shoot featured carefully chosen backgrounds and lighting to highlight her features and create compelling visuals. The resulting images were then curated and shared with clients globally, allowing them to evaluate the model’s potential for various projects.

Next, the team set their sights on Shibuya, a locale that offered an entirely different vibe. Shibuya, known for its iconic crossing, lively fashion scene, and youthful energy, provided the perfect backdrop for their next series of photoshoots.

In Shibuya, RMD team introduced a striking blue Nissan GTR, a car that is a symbol of performance and style in the automotive world. To complement this stunning vehicle, the team featured a newcomer to the industry, whose presence added an electrifying dynamic to the shoot. Her willingness to step out of her comfort zone and embrace the creative process was evident throughout the shoot. The synergy between the model and the car created a captivating visual narrative, emphasizing both speed and thrill.

One of the standout elements of RMD team’s shoot was the creation of a video timelapse. The team set up their specialized equipment to capture the breathtaking moments as the GTR parked in the midst of the bustling Shibuya streets. With people flowing around the car, the timelapse highlighted the contrast between the car’s static beauty and the frenetic energy of the city. This technique not only emphasized the car’s presence but also showcased the eclectic mix of Tokyo life.

During the photoshoot and timelapse video session for the classic Nissan GTR, RMD team experienced a lively and somewhat chaotic atmosphere, characterized by constant interruptions from a variety of curious onlookers. As the iconic car gleamed under the city lights, its impressive design drew attention from car enthusiasts passing by. Many people stopped to admire the vehicle up close, eager to ask a barrage of questions about its specifications, history, and the creative process behind the shoot itself.

This surge of interest not only included car aficionados but also a number of females who were captivated by the model presence at the shoot. They approached the team, curious about RMD’s work and enthusiastic about the potential to join RMD Agency. The team found themselves engaging in numerous conversations, sharing insights about the car, discussing their photography techniques, and explaining how individuals could get involved with their agency.

Despite the interruptions, RMD team managed to capture stunning visuals of the Nissan GTR while also fostering an engaging atmosphere. These interactions not only highlighted the allure of the classic car but also showcased the inclusive nature of the modeling industry, drawing interest from diverse individuals looking to connect with RMD Agency for various reasons. The day turned out to be a rewarding blend of creativity, community engagement, and excitement centered around a beloved automotive icon.

Following a series of successful photoshoots at various prominent spots around Tokyo, the team decided to shift gears and take advantage of the great backdrop offered by the InterContinental Tokyo Bay, known for its luxurious ambiance and breathtaking direct views of Tokyo Bay.

In preparation for this new photoshoot, and after a rigorous talent selection process, the team appointed two accomplished Japanese models to elevate their portfolio and showcase their creativity. The first model was chosen for her great figure and exceptional style, leading to an indoor photoshoot that showcased her elegance and versatility. The window overlooking Tokyo Bay provided a stunning backdrop for the photoshoot with the model, enhancing the visual appeal of the images by creating a dynamic and urban atmosphere that embodied the spirit of Tokyo.

The second model, on the other hand, received a more dynamic assignment that spanned both indoor and outdoor settings. Her photoshoots were strategically planned to feature a stunning supercar. During the indoor segment, both models donned outfits that had previously been showcased by other models in earlier photoshoots, creating a sense of continuity and nostalgia within the style narrative. Each model brought their own personality to the garments, showcasing how versatile these outfits can be. The photographer strategically styled the shoot to highlight the similarities and differences of the looks, capturing each model’s individual flair while honoring the original presentation.

The indoor photoshoot itself became a collaborative effort, with the models channeling their localized expertise while adapting to the international standards set by RMD Agency. Their past experiences in modeling in Japan laid a strong foundation, allowing them to navigate the dynamics of the international market while adding their distinctive touch to the creative direction of the shoot.

With the last indoor snapshots taken, RMD team gathered their equipment and descended into the underground parking area. As they reached the lower level, a stunning sight awaited them: a gleaming white McLaren, pristine and poised, bathed in the harsh glow of overhead lights. The car’s aerodynamic curves and gleaming paint looked almost otherworldly against the backdrop of the concrete.

The team’s meticulous attention to detail was evident, as they captured the McLaren’s striking design and dynamic curves against the industrial aesthetic of the parking facility. The underground parking of the hotel was transformed into a captivating studio space, allowing for creative angles and lighting that highlighted the car’s sophisticated aesthetic. Each click of the camera echoed against the concrete walls, capturing not just the artistry of the moment but the enigmatic allure that surrounded it.

While the McLaren definitely deserves the spotlight, we can’t overlook the stunning model who brought so much life and energy to the photoshoot. Plus, her ability to complement the design of the McLaren was nothing short of amazing, and her presence served as the perfect counterpart to the car, proving that automotive beauty can be greatly enhanced by the vibrant energy of an equally striking model.

As the final strokes of light flickered off the sleek contours of the McLaren, RMD team wrapped up their photoshoot at the InterContinental Tokyo Bay. With the shoot complete, a sense of accomplishment filled the air, marking the end of their “Tokyo Chapter” —a venture that explored not just the city’s vibrant culture but also its hidden corners where art and innovation intertwined.

Yet, as they packed away their gear, a whisper of something new lingered, a subtle hint of upcoming endeavors that would soon call them back to the heart of Tokyo, where the roar of supercar engines would harmonize once more with the pulse of the city at a spectacular showcase yet to be revealed.
